Who I Am
EVYENEIA FOR EVERYONE
I have lived in the North End of Halifax for 22 years. where I ran a successful small business and am raising my family. I am passionate about my community and giving back. Over the years with my business on Agricola St. I served on the board of the North End Business Association for 5 years , One as co-chair. I have supported emerging artists from our community and from Veith House with a free space to show their work .
I have fundraised for Adsum House as well as providing the women and residents with haircuts for over 15 years.
As a first-generation Canadian I understand the importance of diverse, welcoming, and safe communities where everyone has the opportunity to connect, grow and thrive. I believe that a vibrant community embraces a mix of people, culture and small business, and that municipal government must play a key role to ensure our neighbourhoods are developing responsibly, sustainably and with peoples’ needs and interests at the heart of every decision. This means development must care as much about historic communities as it does about the needs of new people coming to the North End.
As Councillor for District 8, I will bring my experience as a listener, my decisiveness as a leader, my compassion for people and my entrepreneurial spirit to the challenges we face as a community.
On October 19th, choose Evyeneia Dexter as your Councillor for District 8.

Testimonials:
“I met Evyeneia 22 years ago when she first opened her business. Over those decades I have seen how she has fully committed to her community - running a business that also cared deeply for and supported that community. From finding innovative ways for her clients to support our most marginalized neighbours to actively engaging in strengthening the North End business community, to putting her money where he mouth is and doing her part to support vibrant community initiatives, it was inspiring to see her work first hand. I’m proud to call her a friend and I am so excited that she has raised her hand to run.”

“Adsum for Women & Children is tremendously grateful to Evyeneia Dexter and Foxy Moon Salon for your dedication of time and funds to support our work in the community for women, gender-diverse people and families. For 15 years Evyeneia has provided regular haircut services to people living in Adsum House emergency shelter, The Alders and at Adsum Court. This service helped people have a basic need they could not otherwise afford, and gave them the ability to feel better about themselves and know people cared about their well-being.. Foxy Moon and Evyeneia also did regular fundraising drives with their customers to raise money for our programs and services. We thank you for raising awareness with your customers and staff about Adsum and the needs of clients we serve.”
